The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Foreign Agricultural Service, is accepting applications for the Cochran Fellowship Program FY2026 to support applied research, extension, and education collaborations. Awardees will design and deliver training programs in the United States for foreign agriculturalists from emerging market economies, focusing on topics such as genetic engineering, feed market development, U.S. food product promotion, softwood species, poultry promotion, and genome editing. Eligible applicants are limited to U.S. State cooperative institutions and other colleges and universities, and they will be evaluated based on their expertise, experience, training plans, quality assurance, and budget. The agency expects to award seven cooperative agreements with an individual award ceiling of $150,000 and a total program funding pool of $1,050,000, with applications due by August 14, 2026.
Eligible Applicants
State cooperative institutions or other colleges and universities in the United States, as defined at 7 U.S.C. ยง 3103.All applicants must have an active registration in the U.S. Government System for Award Management (www.sam.gov) before the application submission deadline of the announcement. Applicants with inactive, expired, pending, or excluded listings will be deemed ineligible. Exceptions, waivers, or extensions will not be considered.
