The Health Resources and Services Administration is accepting applications for the Teaching Health Center Graduate Medical Education Program to provide maintenance funding to support resident training in existing primary care residency training programs. Funded programs must operate within community-based, ambulatory patient care centers to prepare residents to provide high-quality care, particularly in rural and medically vulnerable communities. Eligible applicants must be existing payment recipients operating an accredited residency program in specific specialties such as family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, psychiatry, or general dentistry. The agency expects to make approximately 12 awards ranging from $320,000 to $2,880,000, with applications due by September 29, 2026, and project start dates estimated for July 1, 2027.
Eligible Applicants
Existing HRSA THCGME Program payment recipients must continue to meet the program's eligibility requirements to remain eligible for HRSA THCGME funding. Applicants must be community based, ambulatory patient care center that operates an accredited primary care residency program. They may operate directly or through a graduate medical education (GME) consortium. The residency program must be in one ore more of the following specialties/disciplines:Family Medicine Internal Medicine Pediatrics Internal Medicine-Pediatrics Obstetrics and Gynecology Psychiatry General Dentistry Pediatric Dentistry Geriatrics Program payment recipients that fail to meet any eligibility criteria will not be considered for funding under this announcement.
