Grant Opportunity Analysis
The National Institute of Food and Agriculture, within the U.S. Department of Agriculture, is seeking applications for the Sun Grant Program to fund regional subgrants and collaborative bioenergy activities. Awardees must fund projects that enhance national energy security, promote diverse agricultural production and rural economic growth through biobased energy and product technologies, and improve coordination among Federal agencies and Land-grant Colleges and Universities. Eligible applicants are restricted to a consortium of 1862, 1890, and 1994 Land-grant Institutions, with representation from one entity in each of the designated Sun Grant regions and sub-regions. Applications must be submitted by August 17, 2026, for a single projected award of $2,801,160, and questions regarding application content can be directed to grantapplicationquestions@usda.gov.
Eligible Applicants
Eligible applicants must represent a consortium of 1862, 1890, and 1994 Land-grant Institutions comprised of one entity from each of the Sun Grant regions and sub-region.
