BJA FY 2026 Enhancing Security Measures for Houses of Worship

The Bureau of Justice Assistance is seeking applications for the FY 2026 Enhancing Security Measures for Houses of Worship Program to enhance security and law enforcement capabilities at faith-based institutions. Funded cooperative agreements will support projects that strengthen partnerships between religious communities and local law enforcement, implement evidence-based security measures, and build institutional capacity to report bias-motivated crimes. Eligible applicants include faith-based organizations under Category 1 and units of local government such as towns, boroughs, parishes, or villages under Category 2. Applications must be submitted by September 2, 2026, and awards carry an individual ceiling of $200,000, with inquiries directed to the OJP Response Center at OJP.ResponseCenter@usdoj.gov.
Eligible Applicants
For Category 1 - Faith-based Organizations: Religious organizations, faith-based nonprofits, and organizations with religious charters, names, or missions. For Category 2 - Other Units of Local Government: For the purposes of this notice of funding opportunity, other units of local government include towns, boroughs, parishes, villages, or other general purpose political subdivisions of a state.
