Fiscal Year (FY) 2025 Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) Program

The Department of Homeland Security’s FEMA is offering the FY 2025 Assistance to Firefighters Grants program to provide direct financial assistance for fire departments, nonaffiliated EMS organizations, and State Fire Training Academies. The program supports equipment and training to recognized standards, personal protective equipment, facility retrofits to address health hazards, emergency response vehicles, and health, wellness, and resiliency initiatives. It also emphasizes improving operational efficiency, interoperability, and community resilience, with a multi-phase review process that includes electronic pre-scoring and peer review. Applications are scheduled to be accepted from May 19, 2026, through June 22, 2026, and the opportunity includes a cost-sharing requirement of 5% to 15% depending on population served, with total program funding estimated at $291.6 million.
