Grant Opportunity Analysis
The Department of Homeland Security’s FEMA is offering the State Border Security Reinforcement Fund grant to help states strengthen border security and reduce unlawful entries, illicit drug flows, and related threats. The program supports border barrier construction or deployment, ground preparation for barrier work, detection and interdiction of illicit substances and unlawfully present aliens, and the relocation of unlawfully present aliens, with state administrative agencies expected to make subawards to local governments. It covers both new and retroactive activities dating back to January 20, 2021, has no cost-sharing requirement, allows up to 2% for management and administration, and is reviewed competitively using risk methodology and programmatic criteria. Applications are due July 6, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. ET and must be submitted through FEMA GO, with SAM.gov and FEMA GO registration plus a UEI and EIN required.
