Improved Drug Susceptibility Testing (DST) for Mycobacteria

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, an agency within the National Institutes of Health, is seeking to fund research through cooperative agreements to develop improved drug susceptibility tests for mycobacterial drugs. Funded projects will design innovative diagnostic assays, including rapid genotypic and improved phenotypic methods that do not require full culture growth. This initiative targets drugs currently used for treating tuberculosis and clinically important non-tuberculous mycobacterial infections, as well as new drugs in late-stage clinical development. The program expects to make approximately three awards with an estimated total program funding of $3,000,000.
