Grant Opportunity Analysis
The Bureau of Land Management is seeking applications for the FY26 Threatened and Endangered Species Bureau-wide program to support the conservation and recovery of special status species and their habitats. Funded projects must focus on conserving habitats to preclude the need for species listings, reducing regulatory burdens, and improving data to streamline land-use permits for activities like energy, grazing, and timber production. Eligible applicants are limited to private institutions of higher education, and selected projects will align with administration priorities such as deregulation, expanding timber production, and increasing hunting and fishing access. The agency expects to award approximately 60 cooperative agreements ranging from $10,000 to $1,000,000, with applications due via Grants.gov by September 11, 2026.
Eligible Applicants
Individuals and for-profit organizations are ineligible to apply for awards under this NOFO. This program NOFO does not support entities hiring interns or crews under the Public Lands Corps Act of 1993. The Public Lands Corps Act of 1993, 16 USC, Chapter 37, Subchapter II-Public Lands Corps, is the only legislative authority that allows BLM to "hire" interns under this authority. Therefore, eligible Youth Conservation Corps may only apply for projects developed under NOFO 15.243 – BLM Youth Conservation Opportunities on Public Lands.
