DoW Breast Cancer, Breakthrough Award Levels 1 and 2
Grant Opportunity Analysis
The Defense Health Agency Contracting Activity, through the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs, is seeking applications for the Fiscal Year 2026 Breast Cancer Research Program Breakthrough Award Levels 1 and 2. Applicants must propose high-impact research that addresses at least one of the program's nine overarching challenges, such as primary prevention, risk determinant identification, distinguishing deadly cancers, or eliminating metastatic mortality. Funding Level 1 supports early-stage, high-risk ideas without requiring preliminary data, while Funding Level 2 requires preliminary data to support clinical translation, with options for single, partnering, or population science study principal investigators. The agency expects to fund approximately six awards from an estimated total program budget of $10.6 million, with individual award caps ranging from $0.75 million to $3.35 million. Applications require a pre-application Letter of Intent by November 4, 2026, followed by a full submission by November 18, 2026, which can be coordinated through the eBRAP Help Desk.
