U.S.-Kenya Freedom 250 Tech and Innovation Exchange

The U.S. Embassy in Kenya, through the U.S. Department of State, is seeking a cooperative agreement for the Freedom 250 Tech and Innovation Exchange to advance science, technology, and engineering exchange ties between the United States and Kenya. The program would place 76 Kenyan undergraduate students in a semester of study at U.S. universities and also support externships with American companies in Kenya, while building cooperation between U.S. and Kenyan higher education institutions. The Embassy will be substantially involved in implementation, including participant selection and approval of host institutions, and proposals must include a detailed budget and Monitoring & Evaluation Plan; eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, and for-profit exchange-management organizations. The award is $3,300,000 for one anticipated award, applications are due May 29, 2026, and the grant contact is NairobiGrants@state.gov.
