Optimizing Behavioral Sleep Interventions for Adolescents and Young Adults (R34 Clinical Trial Required)
Grant Opportunity Analysis
The National Institute of Mental Health is seeking grant applications for pilot research to adapt, optimize, and test behavioral sleep interventions for adolescents and young adults with or at risk for a mental health disorder. The work must use clinical trials to assess feasibility, tolerability, acceptability, safety, and potential effectiveness, while also measuring sleep and mental health outcomes and examining the mechanisms behind the intervention’s effects. Studies are expected to be conducted in real-world or typical service settings rather than academic research laboratories, and interdisciplinary teams are encouraged. NIH intends to commit $1.5 million in FY 2027 for up to six awards, with a maximum project period of three years and a direct cost limit of $450,000, and applications are due October 22, 2026 with data sharing through the NIMH Data Archive.
