Building Communities of Recovery

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration is accepting grant applications for the Building Communities of Recovery program to increase access to long-term recovery support for individuals with substance use and co-occurring disorders. Awardees will mobilize and connect community resources to deliver support services, with eligibility statutorily limited to Recovery Community Organizations. Cost-sharing or matching is required under this health-focused discretionary funding opportunity. SAMHSA estimates total program funding of $9,300,000 to support approximately 27 awards, with an award ceiling of $350,000 per recipient. Applications must be submitted via eRA by July 16, 2026, though the submission portal will close early once the first 70 complete, high-quality applications are received.
