Grant Opportunity Analysis

The FAA, through Aviation Next Gen, is accepting discretionary grant applications for the FAA Aviation Maintenance Technical Workers Workforce Development Grant Program to expand the aviation maintenance workforce and support transitions into aviation maintenance careers across the United States and U.S. territories. The program funds projects that build training pathways such as education programs, apprenticeships, scholarships, outreach, and other workforce-development activities, including support for veterans and the Willa Brown Aviation Education Program. Awards are intended for eligible repair stations, labor organizations, educational institutions, aviation-related nonprofits, and state, local, territorial, or Tribal government entities, with a 24-month performance period and no cost-sharing requirement. The program expects about $13 million total, up to 13 awards with a maximum of $1 million each, and applications are due June 22, 2026, at 11:59 PM Eastern time.

Additional Eligibility Information

a. A certified repair station that provides training defined in part 21, 121, 135, 145, or 147 of title 14, Code of Federal Regulations; b. Labor organization representing aviation maintenance workers; c. Accredited institution of higher education (20 U.S.C. § 1001), a postsecondary vocational institution, or a high school or secondary school (20 U.S.C. § 7801); d. Aviation-related nonprofit organization described in section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 that is exempt from taxation under section 501(a) of such Code; or e. A State, local, territorial, or Tribal governmental entity.
