Small Business Transition Grant for New Entrepreneurs (Parent R41/R42 Clinical Trial Optional)

The National Institutes of Health plans to publish a Small Business Transition Grant for New Entrepreneurs under the R41/R42 clinical trial optional mechanism to support eligible U.S. small business concerns. The program will fund Small Business Technology Transfer Phase I and Fast-Track applications that combine research and development at the small business with entrepreneurial training, mentoring, and career development for the principal investigator. It is aimed at first-time principal investigators, requires key personnel to include a mentor with measurable effort on the project, and is intended for U.S. small businesses with the research capabilities and technological expertise relevant to the NIH mission areas identified in the future notice. Eligible Applicants
Only United States small business concerns (SBCs), as defined by the Small Business Administration (SBA)(sbir.gov/apply) are eligible to submit applications for this opportunity. Individuals are eligible to serve as the PD/PI if they have never been an independent PD/PI on an NIH or CDC research, or corresponding non-NIH peer-reviewed research grant, and are a U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident.
