USDA-FNS-CN-EAG-FY26
Grant Opportunity Analysis
The USDA Food and Nutrition Service is offering competitive National School Lunch Program Equipment Assistance Grants to State agencies to support healthier school meals and stronger food safety through equipment purchases. State recipients will use the grant to run subgrants for eligible local education agencies, school food authorities, and schools to buy equipment valued at more than $1,000, and they must also submit the RFA they will use for subaward competition. The opportunity is limited to State governments with NSLP agreements, and applicants must complete the FNS-906 Grant Program Accounting System & Financial Capability Questionnaire to demonstrate accounting and financial capability under 2 CFR 200.302. Applications are due May 28, 2026, with $20 million available overall, awards ranging from $25,000 to $2,362,417, and the grant officer contact listed as Carla Garcia.
Eligible Applicants
There are 54 States that administer the NSLP that have agreements with FNS and that are eligible to apply (please refer to Appendix A-State Funding allocation) in the RFA for reference. In States where more than one agency has an agreement in place with FNS to administer the NSLP, the primary NSLP State Agency (i.e. the agency that serves the majority of SFAs) is the agency that is eligible to apply for this grant opportunity.
