Grant Opportunity Analysis

The Natural Resources Conservation Service is offering a competitive Voluntary Public Access and Habitat Incentive Program grant to help state and Tribal governments create or enhance programs that encourage private farm, ranch, and forest landowners to make land available for public hunting, fishing, and other wildlife-dependent recreation. The work supports public access initiatives and may also fund habitat improvement incentives on enrolled lands, with up to 25% of an award available for those incentives. Only state and Tribal governments may apply, projects may run up to three years, and awardees will use Grants.gov for submission and ezFedGrants to manage awards; the program also includes a 10% technical assistance cap and a 15% indirect cost cap unless a NICRA is in place. Applications are due by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on June 8, 2026, with awards up to $3 million from an estimated $52 million available and submissions received through Grants.gov; questions about application content may be directed to Tessa Garcia at Tessa.Garcia@usda.gov.
