Identify and Evaluate Potential Risk Factors for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention - ERA is seeking research proposals to identify and evaluate potential risk factors for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Funded projects must address one of four specific options, which range from researching established environmental or genetic risk factors to exploring novel risk factors, investigating ALS risk in military veterans, or analyzing biological samples from the Guamanian ALS cluster. Encouraged areas of study include military service, contact sports, traumatic brain injury, neuroinflammation, and infectious agents or exposures. The agency expects to make approximately three awards under this cooperative agreement with an award ceiling of $500,000 per award and an estimated total program funding of $4,500,000.
