DoW Kidney Cancer, Academy of Kidney Cancer Investigators – Early-Career Scholar Award

The Defense Health Agency is soliciting applications for the FY26 Kidney Cancer Research Program (KCRP) Academy of Kidney Cancer Investigators – Early-Career Scholar Award. This program aims to support early-career investigators in kidney cancer research through intensive mentoring, networking, and scientific collaboration. Approximately $2.4M is allocated for two awards, each up to $1.2M over four years. Eligibility requires Early-Career Scholars to be less than seven years from their last postdoctoral or clinical fellowship position, with a commitment of 50% protected time for research and Academy activities. A Designated Mentor with a strong record in kidney cancer research and mentorship is also required. Applications must address at least one FY26 KCRP focus area and a specific kidney cancer type. The two-step application process involves a pre-application (Letter of Intent) due September 14, 2026, and a full application due September 28, 2026. Submissions undergo peer and programmatic review, with emphasis on the Scholar's potential, research strategy, career development plan, and mentor's qualifications. Clinical trials are not permitted. Funds are contingent on availability and compliance with federal regulations.
