DoW Vision, Investigator-Initiated Research Award
Grant Opportunity Analysis
The Department of the Army through USAMRAA is offering the FY26 Vision Research Program Investigator-Initiated Research Award to support basic through early translational research aimed at major advances in understanding or treating eye injury and visual dysfunction related to military exposure. The award can fund preclinical studies and clinical research that align with at least one FY26 VRP focus area, but it cannot be used for clinical trials. The program uses two funding levels, including a Level 2 partnering principal investigator option, and review emphasizes the research idea and rationale, strategy and feasibility, impact, and personnel, with programmatic review focused on fit to the IIRA and relevance to military health. Preproposal submission is generally required and applications are by invitation, with a November 12, 2026 close date, an estimated total program funding of $4.4 million, about five awards expected, and questions directed to the eBRAP Help Desk at help@eBRAP.org.
