Title XVI Water Reclamation and Reuse Projects

The Bureau of Reclamation is offering the Title XVI Water Reclamation and Reuse Projects grant program to support water reclamation and reuse efforts that increase water supply reliability. The funding is available for planning, design, and/or construction of projects that develop and supplement urban and irrigation water supplies through reuse. Eligible applicants are state, tribal, regional, and local authorities and other entities with water or power delivery authority in specified western states and territories, and projects generally require a 75% non-federal cost share. The program emphasizes increased water supply, water management benefits, economic analysis, collaboration, construction readiness, and alignment with presidential and departmental priorities. The opportunity provides $40 million in total funding for an estimated 10 awards, with applications due in two submission periods ending August 26, 2026, and August 26, 2027.

Eligible Applicants - Applicants eligible to receive an award under this funding opportunity are described below.Applicants eligible to receive funding under this NOFO include state, regional or local authorities, such as:States, Tribes, municipalities, irrigation districts, and water districts, or wastewater districtsOther organizations with water or power delivery authority.All applicants must be located in one of the following States or territories: Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, or the Virgin Islands.Category A Applicants:Sponsors of any one of the 53 Title XVI Projects specifically authorized by the Title XVI statute; provided that the Title XVI Project has not reached its Federal funding ceiling as specified in the Title XVI statute.
