The National Park Service is offering FY2025 Historic Preservation Fund Tribal Heritage Grants to federally recognized Tribes, Alaska Native Villages/Corporations, and Native Hawaiian Organizations to support cultural and historic preservation projects that protect and promote tribal heritage and traditions. The program can support work on traditional skills, oral history, plant and animal species important in tradition, documentation and preservation of sacred and historic places, and the establishment of tribal historic preservation offices. Applicants must submit detailed budget justifications for eligible, reasonable, and project-relevant costs using the required forms, and administrative plus indirect costs may not exceed 25% of the total project budget; no substantial NPS involvement is anticipated. Awards are expected to range from $15,000 to $100,000, with about 12 awards available and total program funding of $967,422, and electronic applications are due July 27, 2026 at 11:59 PM ET; questions may be sent to STLPG@nps.gov.
Eligible Applicants
This funding opportunity is limited to Federally-recognized Tribes, Alaska Native Villages/Corporations (Tribes), and Native Hawaiian Organizations, as defined by 54 USC ยง 300309, 54 USC 300313 and 54 USC 300314.Sites or collections owned or leased by the NPS, or in which the NPS holds a property interest are not eligible for funding.
