Development of Candidate Medical Countermeasures (MCMs) and Technologies Against Chemical or Radiation/Nuclear (CRN) Threats

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, on behalf of NIH, is seeking cooperative agreement support to advance research on candidate medical countermeasures and enabling technologies for chemical or radiation/nuclear threats. The work focuses on developing radiation-focused models, biomarkers of damage, devices to assess and predict injury, and products that can improve survival and reduce morbidity, along with preclinical products to mitigate and treat injuries from government-designated chemicals of concern. The effort is aimed at post-exposure candidates for civilian mass-casualty settings and is administered through NIAID’s Radiation and Nuclear and Chemical Countermeasures Research Programs, with no cost sharing required. The estimated synopsis post date is July 10, 2026, the estimated close date is October 9, 2026, and the estimated award and project start date is July 1, 2027.
