Grant Opportunity Analysis

The U.S. Department of Labor, on behalf of the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Postsecondary Education, is seeking applications for the FY 2026 Transitioning Gang-Involved Youth to Higher Education program, a discretionary grant effort to expand postsecondary education opportunities for gang-involved youth leading to certification or credentials. The program funds projects that provide direct support to gang-involved youth and build career pathways and workforce readiness. Eligible applicants include institutions of higher education, public and private nonprofit organizations that partner with IHEs, and state education agencies, and applications will be reviewed using criteria that include project need, significance, design quality, management plan, and evaluation quality. Approximately $5 million is available for about four awards, with individual grants ranging from $1 million to $1.7 million over 48 months. Applications are due June 23, 2026, and electronic submissions must be received by 11:59:59 p.m. Eastern Time through the required Grants.gov and SAM.gov process.
