Building National Partnerships for the Prevention of Emerging and Reemerging Infectious Diseases

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases is offering a cooperative agreement to build national partnerships that improve the prevention, detection, and response to emerging and reemerging infectious diseases. The program supports infrastructure, workforce development, risk communication, and emergency response capacity for clinicians, healthcare systems, and public health partners, with emphasis on infection prevention, antimicrobial resistance, and healthcare-associated infections. The award is organized around a required programmatic infrastructure and capacity component and optional components for emerging pathogens, antimicrobial resistance and healthcare-associated infections, and outbreak and emergency response, with proposals expected to align with CDC priorities for science, transparency, rapid response, and modernized public health infrastructure. Applications are due July 1, 2026, with an estimated $150 million total program funding, up to $30 million per award, and about 30 awards anticipated.
