BRAIN Initiative Connectivity across Scales (BRAIN CONNECTS): Specialized Projects for Scalable Technologies (U01 Clinical Trial Not Allowed)
Grant Opportunity Analysis
The National Institutes of Health, through the BRAIN Initiative, is funding the BRAIN CONNECTS program to advance innovative research on brain circuit function and scalable technologies for understanding brain connectivity. This opportunity supports specialized U01 cooperative agreement projects to develop current or emerging technologies for comprehensive brain connectivity atlases, with work that can cover data collection, reconstruction, analysis, integration, dissemination, and interpretation of brain-wide wiring diagrams. The program emphasizes scalability for whole-brain mapping and integration into the BRAIN CONNECTS Network, with a focus on human, non-human primate, and mouse brains while allowing other species when well justified; clinical trials are not allowed. NIH expects to commit about $10 million in the first year for 3 to 6 awards, and applications are due October 4, 2027, with scientific inquiries directed to BRAIN-CONNECTS-Inquiries@nih.gov.
