The National Institutes of Health, through the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research, is seeking cooperative agreement applications for the APEx program to accelerate tissue engineering and regenerative medicine products toward clinical adoption. The effort will establish one Resource Center to support Interdisciplinary Translational Projects with technical, administrative, regulatory, and commercialization assistance as they complete validation, manufacturing, and preclinical studies for therapeutics, sensors, and diagnostics. Key goals include advancing products to regulatory readiness for first-in-human studies, with clinical study protocols and synthesis and manufacturing protocols prepared for trial initiation, alongside substantial NIH involvement and attention to industrial partnerships, accessibility, and affordability. Applications are due July 10, 2026, with an estimated $6 million annual commitment for up to five years, no matching requirement, and questions directed to APEx-NOFO@nih.gov.
