BRAIN Initiative: Development and Validation of Novel Tools and New Approaches for Neuroscience Research
Grant Opportunity Analysis
The National Institutes of Health intends to publish a Notice of Funding Opportunity for the BRAIN Initiative to support the development and validation of novel tools and new approaches for neuroscience research. Funded projects must focus on creating technologies that enable the interrogation of cell-specific and circuit-specific processes in the central nervous system, including genetic delivery methods, sensors, tracers, and recording or modulation technologies. The program supports projects across broad stages of development, from early conceptualization to the optimization of existing instrumentation for wider adoption. While applications are not being accepted at this time to allow potential partners to form collaborations, the agency estimates a total program funding of $12,000,000 to support approximately 10 awards under the RP1 activity code. Questions regarding this forthcoming opportunity can be directed to BRAINTools@nih.gov.
