National Technical Assistance Center on Kindship and Grandfamilies

The Administration for Community Living (ACL), under the Administration on Aging, has issued a Notice of Funding Opportunity (HHS-2026-ACL-AOA-TAKG-0033) for the National Technical Assistance Center for Kinship and Grandfamilies (NTAC). With an expected total program funding of $3,000,000 over a three-year performance period, this cooperative agreement will award one recipient between $750,000 and $1,000,000 per budget period to increase the capacity and effectiveness of the National Aging Services Network. Applications are due by July 22, 2026. Eligible applicants include domestic public or private non-profit entities, state and local governments, tribal organizations, community-based organizations, and institutions of higher education. A 25% non-federal cost-sharing match is required. To prevent disqualification, proposed projects must be national in scope and cannot focus primarily on grandfamilies where the primary caregiver is under age 55 or on children without disabilities. The selected recipient will collaborate with ACL to deliver training, technical assistance, and resources to support kinship and grandfamilies. Key requirements include conducting national technical assistance, developing Section 508-compliant educational materials, engaging tribal communities, and establishing evaluation systems to measure outcomes. Additionally, federal guidelines restrict the use of award funds for any diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) activities, construction, or basic research. Applications must be submitted through Grants.gov and include a project narrative limited to 20 pages, a detailed budget narrative, and required federal forms.
