DoW Breast Cancer, Breakthrough Award Level 3

The Defense Health Agency's FY26 Breast Cancer Research Program (BCRP) is soliciting applications for its Breakthrough Award Level 3, aiming to fund advanced translational studies with high potential for breakthroughs in breast cancer. This two-step application process requires a pre-application by June 12, 2026, and a full application by September 30, 2026. Approximately $12.6 million is available for about two awards, with a maximum of $5.6M for single PIs and $7.0M for Partnering PIs, over a four-year performance period. Eligible applicants include U.S. and foreign organizations, both for-profit and nonprofit. Research must address at least one BCRP overarching challenge and include two or more breast cancer consumer advocates as integral team members. Small-scale clinical trials are permitted but not required, and a detailed regulatory strategy is necessary for those that include clinical trials. Applications are evaluated based on impact, research strategy, statistical plan, post-award transition plan, personnel, and partnership (if applicable).
