The Department of Education’s Office of Special Education Programs is offering a cooperative agreement under the Accessible Education Video Projects competition to improve educational outcomes for children with disabilities. The work centers on developing and demonstrating accessible educational video projects that provide audio description, open captioning, and closed captioning, along with classroom-appropriate captioning and video description for educational materials. The competition focuses on materials for early learning and K-12 settings and includes an absolute priority for Accessible Education Video Projects plus a competitive preference for Advancing Artificial Intelligence in Education. Applications are due June 26, 2026, and the notice indicates up to $1,050,000 per award, with an estimated three awards available.
Eligible Applicants
State educational agencies; State lead agencies under Part C of the IDEA; local educational agencies (LEAs), including public charter schools that are considered LEAs under State law; institutions of higher education (IHEs), including community colleges; other public agencies; private nonprofit organizations; freely associated States and outlying areas; Indian Tribes or Tribal organizations; and for-profit organizations.Note: If you are a nonprofit organization, under 34 CFR 75.51, you may demonstrate your nonprofit status by providing: (1) proof that the Internal Revenue Service currently recognizes the applicant as an organization to which contributions are tax deductible under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code; (2) a statement from a State taxing body or the State attorney general certifying that the organization is a nonprofit organization operating within the State and that no part of its net earnings may lawfully benefit any private shareholder or individual; (3) a certified copy of the applicant’s certificate of incorporation or similar document if it clearly establishes the nonprofit status of the applicant; or (4) any item described above if that item applies to a State or national parent organization, together with a statement by the State or parent organization that the applicant is a local nonprofit affiliate.
