Limited Competition: Superfund Hazardous Substance Research and Training Program (P42 Clinical Trial Optional)

The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, part of the National Institutes of Health, is seeking limited-competition grant applications for the Superfund Hazardous Substance Research and Training Program Centers. The program supports problem-based, solution-oriented research centers that integrate biomedical research with environmental science and engineering through multiple projects and cores, including administrative, translational research and engagement, and research support functions. Eligible centers are limited to accredited institutions of higher education, and applications will be reviewed through standard NIH peer review with only meritorious applications considered for funding; up to 10 awards are anticipated with a maximum direct cost budget of $1.75 million per year for a project period of up to five years. Eligible Applicants
Based on 42 USC 9660(a)(3) eligible applicants are limited to accredited institutes of higher education. Eligible applicants are permitted under the law, and encouraged by NIEHS, to subcontract as appropriate with other organizations as necessary to conduct portions of the research. Examples of other organizations may include generators of hazardous wastes; persons involved in the detection, assessment, evaluation, and treatment of hazardous substances; owners and operators of facilities at which hazardous substances are located; and/or State and local governments.
