NIJ FY25 Research and Evaluation on Drugs and Crime: Nexus with Firearms and Violence

The National Institute of Justice is seeking applications for a cooperative agreement to support research and evaluation on the nexus between drug crimes, firearms, and violence. The work focuses on rigorous applied research that can inform evidence-based tools, practices, and policies for state, tribal, and local law enforcement and other criminal justice stakeholders addressing drug trafficking, drug markets, and drug-related violence. NIJ is accepting proposals in four topic areas: pattern identification, interdiction and disruption strategies, prosecution, and drug market dynamics, with no matching requirement and eligibility limited to other units of local government. The opportunity is posted under CFDA 16.560, with up to $2 million available across three expected awards, and applications are due June 8, 2026.
