Advancing Investigative Journalism in Ukraine through U.S. AI Innovation
Grant Opportunity Analysis
The U.S. Mission to Ukraine is seeking applications to implement a program that strengthens data-driven and AI-enabled journalism across Ukraine. Awardees must build the capacity of journalists and newsrooms to produce high-quality reporting on economic development, reconstruction, and investment through specialized training in artificial intelligence, investigative reporting, data journalism, open-source research, and cybersecurity. A key focus of the program is to support regional and frontline media outlets in utilizing modern digital tools to offset wartime staffing shortages and improve local coverage. Eligible applicants are limited to Ukrainian registered non-profit media organizations and independent media outlets, with cooperative agreement awards ranging between $30,000 and $100,000. Applications will be accepted through September 1, 2026, and inquiries can be directed to the Mission Ukraine Public Diplomacy Grants Management Team at KyivMDF@state.gov.
