The National Institute of Food and Agriculture, an agency of the United States Department of Agriculture, is seeking applications for the Food Safety Outreach Program Technical Assistance-Grant Writing Skills Projects. Funded projects will provide targeted training, education, and technical assistance designed to enhance the grant writing capabilities of organizations that support underserved agricultural communities. This initiative ultimately aims to improve public health by increasing the understanding and adoption of food safety standards among these communities. Eligible applicants include State Cooperative Extension Services, federal, state, local, or Tribal agencies, non-profit organizations, and institutions of higher education. Applications must be submitted by July 20, 2026, for awards ranging from $75,000 to $300,000 out of an estimated total program budget of $300,000.

Eligibility RequirementsEntities are eligible to apply to the FSOP if they meet at least one of the following criteria:A State Cooperative Extension Service;A Federal, State, local, or Tribal agency;A nonprofit community-based or non-governmental organization;An organization representing owners and operators of farms, small food processors, or small fruit and vegetable merchant wholesalers that has a commitment to public health and expertise in administering programs that contribute to food safety;An institution of higher education (as defined at in Section 101(a) of the Higher Education Act of 1965 (20 U.S.C 1001(a))) or a foundation maintained by an institution of higher education; or;A collaboration of two or more eligible entities.
