Grant Opportunity Analysis

The National Park Service is offering FY2025 Historic Preservation Fund Underrepresented Communities Grants to expand National Register of Historic Places listings for communities that are currently underrepresented. The grants support surveys and nominations of historic sites associated with those communities, and every project must result in at least one new or amended National Register nomination. Application materials include a Project Images Worksheet that requires current photographs per elevation and an overall photo, with captions, dates, and photo credits, and the images are used to document current conditions and immediate threats. Submitted materials become the property of the National Park Service, and awards range from $15,000 to $100,000 with about $1.25 million expected for roughly 15 awards. Applications are due electronically by 11:59 p.m. ET on July 7, 2026, and questions may be sent to STLPG@nps.gov.
