The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, through its Region 7 Fisheries Program, is offering a competitive grant to support Yukon River Salmon Research and Management assistance for work tied to the Yukon River Salmon Agreement with Canada. The program funds projects, studies, and events that advance understanding of salmon biology and management in the Alaska portion of the Yukon River, with a particular focus on Chinook and Chum salmon stocks. Proposals should be one-year detailed project plans that address the listed priority categories and near-term needs, and applicants are encouraged to include local capacity with Yukon River communities and, where appropriate, coordination with state and federal regulatory agencies. Funding is expected to begin in May 2026 and project activities should be completed in early 2028, with total program funding estimated at $260,000 and up to five awards anticipated. Applications and required checklist materials are due by May 18, 2026, by 11:59 PM Eastern Time through GrantSolutions.gov, and late or incomplete submissions may be rejected.
Eligible Applicants
Individuals and organizations submitting proposals should have the necessary technical and administrative abilities and resources to ensure successful completion of studies. Entities submitting proposals may be of Commercial, Individuals, Institutions of Higher Education, Hospitals, Other Non-Profit Organizations, State Government, Local Government, Federally recognized Indian Tribal Governments, Native American tribal organizations, Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit (CESU) Network and/or Federal Entities. United States non-profit, non-governmental organizations must provide a copy of their Section 501(c)(3) or (4) status determination letter received from the Internal Revenue Service. Eligible recipients must appear in the SAM.gov Assistance Listing (CFDA) profile.
