Grant Opportunity Analysis
The National Institute of Food and Agriculture is seeking applications for the Integrated Research, Education, and Extension Competitive Grants Program – Organic Transitions to improve the competitiveness of organic livestock and crop producers. Awardees must develop and implement programs addressing critical issues in organic agriculture, including soil health, pest management, and the development of alternatives to prohibited substances. Projects must involve research, education, or extension activities conducted on USDA-certified organic land or facilities, and applications will receive prioritized evaluation if they are designated as Centers of Excellence. Eligible colleges and universities must submit applications by July 13, 2026, for awards ranging from $20,000 to $1,000,000 out of an estimated total program funding of $7,500,000.
Eligible Applicants
Applications will only be accepted if submitted by colleges and universities, as defined in 7 U.S.C. 3103, 1994 Institutions, and Hispanic-serving agricultural colleges and universities. Award recipients may subcontract to organizations not eligible to apply, provided such organizations are necessary for the conduct of the project, and subject to NIFA approval.
