Blueprint Neurotherapeutics Network (BPN): Small Molecule Drug Discovery and Development

The National Institutes of Health intends to fund the Blueprint Neurotherapeutics Network for Small Molecules program to help investigators advance promising small-molecule therapeutics toward clinical testing. Supported projects will conduct drug discovery and development activities in their own laboratories while utilizing NIH-supported subject matter experts and contract research organizations for medicinal chemistry, pharmacokinetics, toxicology, formulation development, GMP synthesis, and Phase I clinical testing. The program will utilize a phased cooperative agreement mechanism to support projects with high-risk potential, conditioning continued yearly support on the demonstrated feasibility of annual milestones. Applications are not being solicited at this time, but the agency expects to award approximately four grants with an estimated project start date of April 1, 2028, and inquiries can be sent to BPNSMNINDS@mail.nih.gov.
