Grant Opportunity Analysis

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration is offering the Fiscal Year 2026 Type 3 Highway Bridge Replacement and Rehabilitation Competitive Grant Program to fund replacement or rehabilitation of county-owned Type 3 bridges that cross U.S. Bureau of Reclamation water conveyance structures. The program supports eligible bridge projects in the 17 western states where USBR structures are located, and the work must involve bridges owned by counties and eligible under the Federal Lands Access Program. Projects will be judged on bridge condition, water delivery, and safe, efficient, and reliable movement of people and goods, along with technical, financial, and permitting readiness, and the program provides a 100 percent federal share with no required match. Applications are due July 16, 2026, and must be submitted through Grants.gov; questions may be directed to BIT3@dot.gov.
