Brookwood-Sago Mine Safety Grants

The Department of Labor's Mine Safety and Health Administration is accepting applications for the Brookwood-Sago Mine Safety Grants to improve mine safety and health. Funded projects must establish or implement education and training programs, develop training materials, or both, with a core focus on effective emergency response and recovery training in various mining environments. Special emphasis will be placed on programs targeting miners at smaller, new, or newly opened mines, as well as those training mine operators and miners on new agency standards and high-risk activities. Eligible applicants include states, territories, tribal governments, and public or private nonprofit entities, who may apply independently or in partnership with other organizations. The agency expects to award up to five grants ranging from $50,000 to $250,000, with applications due by August 31, 2026, and inquiries directed to Elif E. Polat at polat.elif.e@dol.gov.
