DoW Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Research Program, Clinical Outcomes and Biomarkers Award

The Department of the Army’s USAMRAA is offering the FY26 Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Research Program Clinical Outcomes and Biomarkers Award to support research that develops and validates clinical outcomes and biomarkers for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. The award covers work on biomarkers and outcome measures that can enrich ALS clinical trials, including identification, development, validation, and optimization of clinician-, observer-, patient-reported, or performance-based measures, as well as digital health approaches such as wearables, sensors, video or voice recordings, and imaging. Projects may focus on a specific therapy, therapeutic class, or ALS subtype, and applicants are expected to incorporate community collaboration, a sharing plan for data and research resources, and a path toward clinical implementation; clinical trials are not permitted. The program lists about $7 million in total funding for roughly seven awards, with up to $1 million over three years per award, and uses a two-step application process with a pre-application due June 24, 2026 and a full application due September 30, 2026.
