Grant Opportunity Analysis
HUD is offering the Healthy Homes Production Grant Program to fund efforts that address housing-related environmental health and safety hazards in low-income housing. The grant supports identifying and remediating hazards in privately owned rental and owner-occupied homes, along with public education and outreach, local capacity building, and integration with weatherization, lead hazard control, health, and energy efficiency activities. Applicants are expected to maximize the number of vulnerable residents and housing units protected, use cost-effective and replicable healthy homes methods, and promote Section 3 economic opportunities; cost sharing is required. HUD expects awards of $1.5 million to $4 million, with about 20 awards from $85 million in total funding, and electronically submitted applications are due by August 4, 2026; the grantor contact is Sacsheen S. Eligible Applicants
Multiple organizations or multiple units of local government may apply as a consortium, provided an eligible entity is the principal (lead) applicant responsible for ensuring compliance with NOFO requirements, and each entity must meet the Resolution of Civil Rights Matters threshold requirement.If an applicant"s department or agency does not report directly or through a direct chain of command to a jurisdiction"s chief executive officer (e.g., governor, county executive or, mayor), the applicant must identify the specific statute(s) (e.g., 1 MyState Revised Code 2345) establishing it as a part of the government, and either attach the relevant wording, or include the specific freely accessible web address(es) in the application.If you were awarded a grant under the FY2024 HHP NOFO, you are ineligible to apply for FY 2026 HHP funding.Documentation or proof of Nonprofit 501(c)(3) designation status must be provided at the time of application. Applicants requesting supplemental weatherization funding must submit a statement that they will collaborate on weatherization activities within the proposed target area with the local DOE Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) provider, and a letter of commitment from the local DOE WAP provider. The letter must say that, if awarded Weatherization Supplemental funding, the provider will carry out weatherization activities in housing within your grant"s target area in partnership with you, and the units will receive Healthy Homes Production mitigation.Faith-based organizations may apply on the same basis as any other organization. HUD does not engage in any unlawful and improper conduct, policies, or practices that target faith-based organizations. Individuals, foreign entities, and sole proprietorship organizations are not eligible to compete for, or receive, awards made under this announcement.
