The National Institutes of Health is seeking applications for its Research Education Program to support educational activities that enhance the national biomedical, behavioral, and clinical research workforce. Funded projects must focus on courses for skills development as well as curriculum or methods development in NIH mission areas. Applicants must provide specific plans for reproducibility, the responsible conduct of research, program evaluation, and dissemination, with projects limited to a maximum performance period of five years. While individual budget amounts are not strictly capped, requests typically do not exceed $500,000 in direct costs. Appropriate institutional commitment to the program includes the provision of adequate staff, facilities, and educational resources that can contribute to the planned program.Institutions with existing Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) institutional training grants (e.g., T32) or other Federally funded training programs may apply for a research education grant provided that the proposed educational experiences are distinct from those training programs receiving federal support.
