Grant Opportunity Analysis

The Food and Drug Administration is seeking to award a cooperative agreement to support public safety by evaluating the safety of botanical ingredients used in U.S. foods, dietary supplements, and cosmetics. The selected recipient will identify and prioritize botanical ingredients based on safety concerns, acquire and characterize authenticated reference materials, exchange technical information and analytical methods with FDA scientists, and coordinate scientific workshops and training. Only the University of Mississippi is eligible to apply for this five-year project, which will involve substantial, joint scientific and programmatic collaboration with FDA scientists. The FDA intends to award up to $5,100,000 for the first year, with applications due electronically through Grants.gov by August 21, 2026.
