DoW Lupus, Idea Award
Grant Opportunity Analysis
The Defense Health Agency, through the Department of the Army’s USAMRAA, is soliciting applications for the FY26 Lupus Research Program Idea Award to fund innovative, high-risk/high-reward research relevant to lupus. The award supports work that addresses at least one FY26 focus area, including disease heterogeneity, biological mechanisms, end-organ injury, quality of life, or genetic and epigenetic components. The opportunity does not allow clinical trials, permits but does not require preliminary data, allows early-career investigators to serve as principal investigators, and evaluates applications on research strategy, innovation, impact, and a transition plan through peer and programmatic review. The program anticipates about $1.5 million in total funding for five awards capped at $300,000 each over a two-year period, with a pre-application due July 29, 2026 and a full application due August 19, 2026 via eBRAP or Grants.gov.
