Grant Opportunity Analysis

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is offering Great Lakes Restoration Initiative grants to Great Lakes tribes, or a tribal designee, to develop and/or implement Tribal Aquatic Invasive Species Management Plans. Projects must support an existing Tribal AIS Plan or include development of such a plan as part of the proposed work, with the focus on aquatic invasive species management in the Great Lakes Basin. Applications are competitive and include federal environmental review documentation related to project location, species and critical habitat impacts, and compliance materials such as Section 7, NEPA, and Section 106 forms as applicable. Pre-proposals are due 60 days after posting by 11:59 pm Eastern via email to fws3_fisheries_grants@fws.gov, with full proposals due within 60 days of funding-level notification through GrantSolutions; awards range from $20,000 to $100,000, with about $300,000 total funding anticipated for roughly three awards.
