Grant Opportunity Analysis

NOAA Fisheries Service, through NOAA/NMFS, is offering FY26 Marine Turtle Conservation for Sustainable U.S. Fisheries grants and cooperative agreements to support sustainable management of U.S. commercial longline fisheries and conserve endangered marine turtles in the Pacific. The program seeks projects that monitor and implement protection measures for western Pacific leatherback sea turtles in the Coral Triangle, North Pacific loggerhead sea turtles in Japan, or build research, monitoring, and protection capacity for endangered marine turtle populations in international waters. Projects must benefit marine turtle aggregations linked to the Pacific Islands Region, affect PIR federally managed commercial fisheries, and address ESA recovery obligations, with evaluation based on relevance, technical merit, applicant qualifications, project costs, and outreach or education plans. Applications are due June 30, 2026, with about $700,000 available for 4 to 6 awards; submissions are preferred through Grants.gov and require prior SAM.gov, eRA Commons, and Grants.gov registration, and the contact is Hideyo Hattori at NOAA Fisheries Service in Honolulu.
