TYPE 3H FIRE ENGINES
Contract Opportunity Analysis
The USDA Forest Service is soliciting proposals for five Type 3H (Heavy) fire engines, body-only configuration, under a total small business set-aside. Qualified contractors must fabricate and install custom-built bodies, fire pumps, 750-gallon water tanks, warning lights, and required graphics packages onto government-furnished 4X4 cab and chassis. The scope of work also requires chassis modifications, low-voltage electrical testing, delivery of the completed vehicles wheels-off-ground to four designated National Forests, and on-site familiarization training. The period of performance is 24 months from receipt of the first chassis, and proposals will be evaluated using a best-value tradeoff process based on technical capability, past performance, delivery timeline, and price. Questions are due by August 31, 2026, and final electronic proposals must be submitted by September 14, 2026, to Kimberly Turner at kimberly.turner@usda.gov.
