USNS HENRY J KAISER-Eaton Motor Controller Additional Material

The Department of the Navy, Military Sealift Command (MSC) Norfolk, is seeking to award a firm-fixed price contract to Eaton Corporation on a brand-name basis. This contract, J&A No. N10426Q0056, is for the procurement of Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) cargo pump motor controllers for the USNS HENRY J. KAISER (T-AO 187). The equipment will be installed during the FY 27 Regular Overhaul and Dry Dock. The procurement includes one 500 HP soft start motor controller and seven 400 HP soft start motor controllers, both with enclosures, manufactured by Eaton. The statutory authority permitting other than full and open competition is 41 U.S.C 1901 Section 815 of the National Defense Authorization Act, utilizing FAR subpart 13.5 for Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP) as the acquisition is under $7.0 million. The government intends to issue a synopsis/solicitation on www.sam.gov and has determined the anticipated cost will be fair and reasonable. MSC has no current plans for future competitive subcontracting for these items but will assess feasibility if alternate sources emerge.
