MPI Art Conservation
Contract Opportunity Analysis
The Department of the Interior’s Interior Business Center, on behalf of the Museum of the Plains Indian, is seeking a small-business set-aside contract for art conservation services to stabilize, conserve, and preserve a historic wood mural. The work includes on-site surface cleaning, structural stabilization, infilling losses with reversible materials, toning fills, applying conservation coatings, and preparing treatment documentation and long-term maintenance recommendations. The conservator must have experience with wood sculpture and Native American art conservation, and the work is to be performed at the Museum of the Plains Indian in Browning, Montana, from July 12–17, 2026; evaluation will emphasize technical approach and past performance over price. Quotes are due by 5 PM ET on June 4, 2026, the anticipated award is a firm-fixed-price contract, and invoicing is to be handled through the Invoice Processing Platform.
